  3. Hmmm… no women there???

  4. Awesome, how good would it be to have a site thats as popular as those guys!

  5. Great List, interesting to see how much that can be made in just one decade!

  6. Danny Cooper says:

Doesn’t Eric Schmidt just work for Google?

  7. Stuart Wooster says:

Do you think Pierre Omidyar bought that penguin off eBay? LoL!

More lists please Michael! Great stuff for filling in my breaks

    • Haha.. yeh If he didn’t then he should sell it on eBay at least

      Plenty more to come Stuart!

  8. Stuart Wooster says:

Nice to see the comments building up here, who else is on the eCourse?

If so, have you checked out the forum yet? If not check your mail and register. It will be nice to get to know one another for sure!

  9. Scottie332 says:

Very nice list! Give it a few years and you will have to put me on that list Michael! lol

    Keep up the great work.

  10. Any idea why Steve Chen is worth more than Chad Hurley?? I thought they were 50/50 :-S

  11. Aah, the richie rich guys!

I hope to make it to that list someday!

  12. Sure won’t see any bloggers up there talking about getting rich. It’s all good apps that went big. Just my 2 cents.

  13. Josiah Jost | Siah Design says:

Another awesome list. I wonder how long it will take the twitter dudes to make it on this.

  14. emerywebster says:

Favorite guy on here is Elon Musk

    http://www.inc.com/magazine/20071201/entrepreneur-of-the-year-elon-musk.html

His little bro is no slouch either.

  15. Billions is always good. Someday your gonna need to add my name to that list.

nice list. i love your inspirational lists. they give me that extra push at the end of the day. this list is interesting because it shows the diversity of the internet market.

    • Thanks Garrett, glad you enjoy my lists! I hope you are still rocking the ebay scene!?

  18. NitinGarg says:

    Wooah.. nice list.

Man, this inspires me to drop out college and start working and looking for funds for my own projects

  19. Scott Weaver says:

Google has like half the list….

  20. These people have truly used the power of the Internet to build massive wealth. Thanks for the list. However, they definitely didn’t do it from a laptop at home, at least not to reach the heights they have.

Most of these companies have employees, a physical office(s), insurance coverage etc. While they are web based businesses they are not work from home type deals.

Do you want employees or do you want to be a one-man shop? I don’t think it’s possible to build 100’s of millions or a billion dollars worth of equity by working from home. You’re going to have to build a brick and mortar business that just happens to be online.

    Cool blog theme. Thanks!

    • Hey Andrew,

Thanks for your comment, although now they are not at home with a laptop, for quite a lot of them, it started that way.

I was actually speaking to a really huge name recently, he told me how he lived under his computer desk at home working all our tills he made it.

It all starts right here guys.

      Michael

  21. Temiyemi says:

It’s amazing! First, these ideas turned into services – not just websites – that the whole world have come to love and accept as part of everyday life both offline and online… and then, they further turned into mass of wealth for the brains that generated and implemented them! That’s the best route to getting rich that I adore and embrace!

  22. Shane Hudson says:

My name will be there soon to! Just I find a project that will make money, Success Circuit was not made for that purpose.

  23. I bet Obama is drooling thinking about the taxes he can generate from them.

  24. Shreejana Hickman says:

Thanks for the list. We all need to see a list like this from time to time, to remind us it is possible to achieve our goals!

  25. Nikhil Garg says:

    Great List.

I was not aware that Amazon is on 3rd Ranking….

  26. Play Games Win Prizes says:

With all the things you are pulling now, Michael, I do NOT doubt it at all that you would be on this list in the future

    -Mike

  27. Simone Brummelhuis says:

Hope that with support from The Next Women, women may be encouraged to go for the big internet companies as well.
There are some, see our deal list of exits by women:

    Devo’s Dad.

    • Lol… Alright Matthew, Dean and Martin I over, mentioned you checked the blog out.

Hope all is going well with HEAL and your blog.

  29. Alex | Blogussion.com says:

Weird, I would have thought Mozilla would be worth more (not saying $120 mil isn’t a lot). By the way, you missed an extra “l” in “Mozilla”.

  30. web designmanchester says:

amazing list, it’s kinda scary how the net has proved to be a gateway for some massive success stories.

  34. And hopefully a they will be giving some of their money away

  35. Marty McFlyy says:

You can tell every one of them got beat up in high school. Be nice to the nerds people!!! The Geek Shall Inherit the Earth…

    • Like Bill Gates Said: Be nice to nerds. Chances are you’ll end up working for one.

  36. Alex Brooks says:

It’s interesting that some of the websites earn more then the older websites, just proves to show the service/content doesn’t mean everything, but as you can all see, aged websites usually earn a lot more then younger websites, but you hardly ever see anyone earning a load of money when their website is only 1-2 years old.

  37. Oyelaja Oyekan says:

I run Cybernator Solutions (www.cybernatorsolutions.com) and I come here daily to get inspiration from what Michael says. Great list dude. Only wish to make it one day

  43. Nice list

Hope to make it one day myself, and looking forward to seeing some women on it too someday

  44. Jason Leavitt says:

Like all the other “lists” on this site, this list is pathetically incomplete.

What about Jeffrey Citron? He started Datek (sold to Ameritrade) and Vonage.

What about the guy who started Ameritrade? He just bought the Cubs for $1 billion.

What about the guy who started hotmail.com? He sold to Microsoft for $400 million.

Or the guy who started clearstation.com? (sold to e-trade for $200 million).

The list goes on and on. There are so many others that the author of this site doesn’t know about, that Max Levchin might not even be in the top 100.

  45. Muzi Mohale says:

Andrew, just to add on Michael’s point, working from home is not a sin. If my memory serves to correct Matt, who owns wordpress, has all along been operating from home…”As CEO Toni Schneider explained at a recent Startup2Startup event, Automattic has no central office and all its employees work remotely from home, only to meet up a couple times per year as a company.”

    http://www.techcrunch.com/2008/10/15/wordpress-acquires-irish-startup-polldaddy/

  46. Google seems to dominate the top list!

    http://www.etopedia.com

If we have good support of people..

…and don’t we all want to see our names on that list.

That’s what’s officially put up on their company profiles and in the media.
