You want Online Success – You want to make a difference. You want to live a life that matters. To do that, you must stop letting every day slip away.

online success

7 secrets to online success that will allow you to achieve those BIG goals!

For Online Success…

You must start your day with positive rituals that get you focused.

Do the BIG things first.

Eliminate temptations so that you remain focused.

Own your day and control your future.

#1 Know Your Vision

You must know what you really want and that’s having your vision.

The vision is for your business and your family life. Know what you want out of life.

It’s interesting when people are beginners, they’ll say a sales goal but don’t really know how to get there. It’s one thing for you to say, “I want to have a thousand sales of my product” but if you don’t have a blueprint for it, you won’t get there. You need a complete vision like, “Here’s how I can actually achieve 50 sales from 20 people or 500 sales from 2 people.”

a goal, online success

So think about it…

Three years from now, where do you want your online business to be?

Where do you want your family to be? What kind of relationships do you want to have or need to repair? What kind of workday do you want to have? Once you know what you want to build, then you can determine the tools and avenues to take to get there. That’s the most important part of the equation.

#2 Know Your Marketplace

The second thing you need to know is your marketplace. You have to know your marketplace inside and out. You have to know what they want. You can’t take a square peg and try to put it into a round hole. You can’t force your product idea on the marketplace. You have to know what they want.

This is why I tell my coaching clients to write their sales copy first before creating their product because they’ll have a good idea if they can sell it or not. It’s much easier to put a couple of hours into thinking about your sales message than it is to putting a couple of months into creating a product that nobody wants.

What you think the world needs is probably not what they want. Don’t make that mistake. I’ve seen it made too many times. Even Amazon writes before creating. Amazon writes press releases for all their products before any are created, before any specs are even written up because they know they have to be able to sell it and hype it up before anybody is going to be interested in it in the first place. That’s very important.

Getting to know your marketplace is as simple as subscribing to magazines. For example, if your product deals with women and nutrition, subscribe to Women’s World magazine. It shows up every week. Get a subscription to Oxygen. It shows up every month. These are golden for getting to know women and nutrition.

#3 For Online Success – Know Where Your Customers Are

You also need to know where your customers are, who’s got them and how you can get them. That’s the most important aspect of what you need to know about your customers. That might mean advertising to somebody else’s Facebook fan page or getting somebody else to be an affiliate for you.

Dan Kennedy had a good quote that said, “People’s problems are their hobbies.” Make Sense? If you buy one diet book, you’re going to buy ten diet books. Many people often don’t have success because they keep buying different books and they’ve turned their problem into a hobby.

Now you want to come along, solve their problem and be the last person they ever need to go to for information. But, it’s very important for you to understand that other people have your customers.

#4 For Online Success – Know Yourself

You also need to know yourself, your skills, your strengths, your weaknesses. That will help you determine what you should be doing and what you shouldn’t be doing. If you’re not very good on video, you should not be trying to be the next Mike Chang. There’s just no point. If you’re not the type of person who can sit down for 30 minutes, you’re not going to be the type of person who’s going to build a website around SEO. You need to know what you’re good at and get other people to do the stuff you’re not good at.

So you really need to have some introspection. Think about yourself, your skills, and your experiences. Be honest with yourself. Then you can cross off the things you’re not going to do. You don’t have to do as much as you think to be successful.

If you’re a great networker, a great schmoozer, by all means get out to as many events as possible. You’ve got an unfair advantage over the people that are not because that way, you don’t even have to be a great copywriter, you don’t have to be great at YouTube videos. If you know a lot of people and you’re a go-giver, people are going to want to help you. They really will. It’s so much easier for someone to want to help somebody when they’ve met them in person.

Knowing yourself is the beginning of all wisdom

#5 Know Your Allies

The next thing you need to know are your allies. Those are your web people, your team and affiliates. You have to know who will help you build success.

A Goal without a Plan is just a Wish

#6 Know Your Plan

You need to know your plan and you need to take action to implement it. With the right tools and the right mindset you will find success. Sometimes it’s hard, but it can be simple with a plan. You just have to put your head down and grind, that’s what it’s all about.

You also need to listen to those who have “been there, done that”. Don’t reinvent the wheel. One of the most important messages that I tell to anybody that buys fat loss product from me is just follow the instructions. Don’t over think it. Get the rituals in place. Get the good habits in place. Eliminate the bad ones. Eliminate the temptations from your life. It’s the same for you. To succeed, it’s often the eliminations of the bad things more than it is the implementations of the good things.

Eliminate the time-wasters in your life, the negative people. If you eliminate those two things, I bet you you’ll double your business by this time next year, if not sooner. Get rid of the bad then work on the good. Sometimes, that’s more important.

#7 Know Your End Point

The seventh and final thing you need to know is your endpoint. What is your end game for all of this? This is part of your vision. Know what you’re willing to do and what you’re not willing to do. Know your vision, your endgame. Know the level of success you want, and the lifestyle you want. When you know you’re endgame and use all these steps you will reach success and happiness. So many of you in our mastermind group are living proof of this.

That’s it guys. Those are the seven things you need to know: Vision, What you want, Your marketplace, Your customers, Yourself (that’s really important), Your allies, Your plan and Your endpoint. If you know those things, you’re going to succeed – you will have ONLINE SUCCESS!

Richard Branson’s Private Island

One of the most famous purchases by an infamous billionaire goes to Richard Branson for his island in the British Virgin Islands, named Necker Island. Planning on using it as a private island getaway for the artists on his record label, he quickly fell in love with the island, with its spectacular views and stunning wildlife. After a round of lowballing with an offer of £100,000 for the £5m island, he eventually came to own the island for just £175,000. With strong restrictions from the government, he had to build a resort on the island within just five years, or give up ownership.

He bought the island at the age of 28, and in just 3 years, he had spent $10m, and turned it into the spectacular resort it is today. It’s a ten bedroom Balinese-style villa, which rents out for $54,000 a day, and sleeps 28. It recently got struck my lightening and burnt down, but Branson has plans to rebuild it.

Check out this video to see what all the fuss is about.

Yuri Milner’s Mansion

If you read my article on who owns Facebook, then you’ll be familiar with the name. He’s the head of Digital Sky Technologies who has made an absolute fortune investing in start-ups such as Facebook. This has provided him with enough dollar to splash a bit of cash on the world’s most expensive house, which comes in at $100m for a 25,500 sq-foot property in Los Altos, California. That’s quite a purchase, and something which contrasts hugely with the home of Mark Zuckerberg, listed further down the page. What do you get for $100 million of your finest American dollars? Well, a ballroom, home theater, wine cellar, indoor pool, the list goes on, and why not!

Trump’s Outlandish offer to The White House

Last year, Donald Trump kindly offered to build The White House a ballroom, isn’t that nice?

“I called up the White House about a year ago.  And I saw that they were having lots of functions for people like the President of China…And I said, ‘Listen, every time I see a function, you put an old broken canvas tent that they probably pay some guy, some local guy a fortune for’…I said, ‘I will build you, free of charge,’ to a very high official at the White House, ‘one of the great ballrooms of the world,’”

“I will build it.  It’ll cost maybe $100 million.  Anywhere from $50 to $100 million,” Trump continued. “I will give you a gift and what we’ll do is we’ll hire the top ten architects in the world, hopefully, the United States, but in the world.  We’ll have a committee, a review committee set up.  We’ll pick the one that everybody agrees, because it’s a little delicate.  You know, it is the White House, after all,” he said.

Sounds good to me, but he never heard back from them. Source.

Mukesh Ambani Billion Dollar Home/Skyscraper

This was all over the trashy newspapers in the UK when it was first built. Sometimes a simple house just isn’t enough, and mansions are just so last year, the only other reasonable option that I can see is to build yourself a personal skyscraper. Well you would, wouldn’t you? That’s exactly what India’s richest man chose to do. The building is 27 stories and 173 meters high, and it has pretty much everything you could ever want in it. Cinema? Check. Swimming pools? Check. Health club? Check. Staff of 600? Check. A Picasso hanging on the wall? You betcha. You don’t really get much more outlandish than this.

Roman Abramovich’s $1 Billion Super-Yacht

Second only to owning football (soccer) teams, it seems that yachts are the best way to pour your money away, and the owner of this one just so happens to own both. When it comes to super yachts, it seems that people spend more on them, then they do their homes, and when you consider that this one cost a reported $1 billion, you might just spit your tea all over your computer screen. Security in the form of bulletproof glass and rocket detection system keeps the russian billionaire safe, while the likes of two helipads, 11 guest cabins, three launch boats, 2 swimming pools (one isn’t enough, you can never get enough water at sea), an aquarium, and even a mini-submarine.

This is Roman’s fifth luxury yacht, because there’s some things you just can’t have enough of sometimes, but this one is not only his biggest, but it’s the biggest privat yacht in the world. With annual running cost of £15 million (give or take) for all his boats, it’s probably not a great thing that Russia’s richest man lost £13billion in the global financial crisis.

Chase Bailey’s Cabernet Sauvignon 1992

The former Cisco Systems executive paid $500,000 for a six-liter bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon 1192. Granted, the procedes went to charity, and the bottle only really retails at about $300, but the point stands that it’s half a million for some wine. Even knowing it’s true value, I would have a very hard time popping the cork in it. I might not have a particularly sophisticated palet, but I’m happy when I can pick up two bottles for a tenner.

Saudi Prince Alwaleed bin Talal bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud’s Private Jet

The Saudi Prince bought an Airbus A380 for $400 million in 2009; that’s four times as much as the world’s most expensive home. I know what you’re thinking, he’s be done there, I know for a fact that an Airbus A380 only costs $300 million. I know, I was thinking the same. You see, he decided to drop another $100 million on decking the plane out, because you know, if it’s worth doing, it’s worth doing right. That’s correct, $100 million. On interior decoration. Of a plane.

Long haul flights are such a bore, that’s why there’s a concert hall, a turkish spa, a garage, 20 first class seat/beds, a boardroom, and even a prayer room. If all that sounds like a lot of walking around, then don’t worry, there’s a lift to take you from floor to floor, and act as a private entrance. Lavish living, or a disgusting display of wealth? You be the judge.

David Martínez’s Jackson Pollock

Billionaire producer David Geffen sold the 4-ft. by 8-ft. painting to financier David Martínez for $140 million, making it one of the highest priced paintings in the world. Think of the sort of money you’d have to have before you could even consider hanging $140 million of it on the wall. Geffen is well known as a lover of art, and a bit of a collector, and has sold various paintings in the past, so it’s come of no surprise that he would sell the painting. That sure is a lot of money for a painting though.

Mark Zuckerberg’s Contrasting Home

Mark recently purchased a $7 million house in Palo Alto, which when you consider his personal wealth, isn’t all that much money. He’s never really been one to splash the cash, and it is Palo Alto so $7 million doesn’t really buy you a lot. It’s a simple enough house, and not a mansion by anyone’s standards, but it’s enough for Mark. I mean he drives an Acura for crying out loud. It speaks a lot about Mark as a person, and how he compares to other billionaires like himself, such as Yuri Milner’s $100 million mansion, who is an investor in Facebook.

Bill & Melinda Gates Donation

This splurge completely differs to the rest of the list, and that’s for a single reason. It’s selfless. Bill & Melinda gates started their charity, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, in 1994, and gave it a little boost in 1999, by personally donating $5 billion of their own personal wealth. That’s right, $5 Billion. They could have done everything above put together with that sort of money, but they didn’t, they gave up some of the cash they have lying around, and put it to a goof cause. To top it all off, a couple years ago they pledged $10 billion over the next 10 years to help research, develop and deliver vaccines for the world’s poorest countries. Well isn’t that nice of them.

Businesses these days, particularly those who make their money on the internet, seem to be paying much more attention to their staff and work environment, so that they can really get the most out of them. We’ve compiled a list of 20 of our favourite offices from across the world, to show you what happens behind the scenes of some of the biggest companies on the internet, and some small nuggets of design from more obscure companies.

Selgas Cano – Madrid

There are offices in this list from some of the biggest companies in the world, but when it comes to making awesome offices, size doesn’t matter. This must be one of the most relaxing offices to work in, because you’re half underground, and half above ground, with views out into the woods. This is Selgas Cano Office, which was designed by Iwan Baan and is situated in a forest, near Madrid, in Spain. This office for architects is light and airy, with clean lines and colorful details, making it a great place to work from. It’s less about awesome fun slides, great food and gaming areas, and more about a relaxed environment, away from harsh lighting and big empty rooms.

Google Office – Zurich

It’s no secret that Google is a fun, fresh company, with tonnes of money, and dedicated employees, and part of the secret behind these employees is the awesome offices that they work from. Google put a lot of time and money into making the perfect work environment, mixing business with pleasure so that the staff can relax and refuel during their breaks. Google thrives of creativity and that thought has very much gone into the reasoning behind the designs of their offices, providing every employee with a space for them to be creative.

There’s a rule at Google that nobody is allowed to be more than 100 meters away from food, so you’ll find kitchens everywhere, as well as an awesome cafeteria where every employee is fed three times a day, for free. If you think that the offices are over the top and far too big, then at least you won’t have to spend all your time walking everywhere as you can just take the slide or fireman’s pole around the building. If all of that’s not enough for you, and you really want somewhere quiet to relax and get away from work, there’s always the library or aquarium.

Red Bull Office – Soho, London

Situated in a build of great character, we have the London office of Red Bull, which is a converted building of five old pubs in Soho. With none of the buildings originally linking together, or even having floors on the same height, this was always going to be an interesting building with plenty of space and cool features. Red Bull isn’t just about energy drinks, these offices are for roughly 100 people in their 20’s mostly, to come and collaborate and be creative together in these unique spaces. They threw away the corporate office rule book and decided upon a more lounge like feel, with original features from the old buildings, and a reception that turns into a bar at night. This is the perfect workspace for the young Londoner looking to be creative with one of the most interesting companies around.

AOL Head Quarters – Palo Alto, California

It’s no secret that AOL isn’t the company that is used to be, but they’re trying to make big changes with the purchase of websites such as Techcrunch and Huffington Post, and they’ve recently had a massive overhaul of their headquarters to suit. They’ve gotten rid of the bland corporate facade and taken a leaf out of Google’s books and tried to make their office more fun and inspiring, with fresh new designs. This office is everything you’ll come to expect from enormous internet companies with large kitchens, splashes of color, countless relaxation areas, pool tables, games rooms, and of course, the all important work spaces.

Parliament – Portland, Oregon

This is a company that knows the importance of a happy and comfortable work environment, but have given it a slightly different twist to some of the companies on this list. The design of this office involves a lot of reclaimed or recycled materials such as old street signs, a salvaged pizza oven and a wood from a barn and a church. But just because they’ve used old materials, doesn’t mean the design has to suffer as the attention to detail and finish is superb, and the mix of raw materials really help it to stand out. To top it all off, the office is finished with a bearskin rug, which is rather suiting I think.

Dreamhost – La Brea, California

Designed by the same people that did AOL and Facebook, the Dreamhost office is another one of those office with bright open spaces, which have gotten rid of personal cubicals to encourage interaction between the staff. Open and private areas are scattered about the building for meetings, relaxation and work, as well as games areas and places to eat. Designs like these may start to appear quite common, but I assure you, this sort of thing only happens when big bucks are involved, how many of you have played ping pong at work? Large glass windows make for a light work environment, away from harsh fluorescent lighting, while the variety of flooring and splashes of color make it feel a lot less clinical.

Comvert – Milan, Italy

This has got to be one of the coolest buildings to build an office in, which came about when alternative clothing company Comvert were looking for a new space for their headquarters. During the search, they happened upon an old abandoned cinema that seemed to offer the perfect solution. It was big enough to house all of their offices, warehousing and even room a shop in the front, however, there was one ‘problem’, what would they do with all the extra room above where the audience sat during a movie? The answer is unique, inspired, and all but simple – build an indoor skate bowl which sat suspended above the warehouse. This was a perfect solution for all the space, while keeping the staff entertained, and fitting in their alternative clothing brand image.

Facebook – Palo Alto, California

Facebook went around their office design a little differently to most companies, actually using it’s own software to conduct polls asking their employees what they would want from an office. The result was a superb work environment with big open spaces to work from, and amazing relaxation areas with a place to skate and DJ from. That’s right, there’s no simply plugging in your iPod to a dock, there’s a whole booth that you can polish up your mixing skills at while entertaining colleagues. All of this combined with the modern, comfortable styling of the complex and means that Facebook is one of the best places to work and play, which is ideal really, considering their employees look after 500 million people a day, from roughly 750 million active accounts.

YouTube – San Bruno, California

YouTube is an interesting company really because it was sold in less than 2 years for princely sum of $1.65 billion, yet it’s earning capabilities seem to be far below that. That hasn’t stopped Google from splashing out on big expensive offices though, which seems to be a trademark for them. Big open floor plans and perks for employees dominate this office complex, as they can relax with a bit of indoor putting, free-roam Segway riding, eating, gaming, swimming, and gym activities, to name just a few. It’s business and pleasure all rolled into one at YouTube, with the hopes that the staff will be relaxed and inspired enough to come up with new ideas and work well with their colleagues.

Dtac Headquarters – Bangkok

Dtac recently decided to put an end to separate office spaces throughout the city of Bangkok, and brought all six buildings under one roof, which happens to be the largest ever office lease in Thailand’s history, occupying around 650,000 square feet. The move and design reflects the company’s desire to become the employer of choice, to “enhance cooperation and communication, strengthen common goals, increase creativity” and make it easier for the brand to react quickly to changing conditions.

Dtac’s brand approach is “play and learn”  and they wanted to reflect this to their employees and customers with their new, rather inspiring office, spanning 22 floors. Some of the highlights include a massive circular library amphitheatre, and an entire floor dedicated to fun, with indoor soccer, table tennis, running track, and concert and performance spaces. To feed creativity, there’s the Conversation Pit, the Freeform Meeting, Picnic Table and Dining Room, all created to encourage informal, face-to-face meetings. And lets not forget what tops off the building – an open terrace overlooking Bangkok’s skyline.

Gummo – Amsterdam, The Netherlands

As Gummo were only going to be renting the space on the first floor of the old Parool newspaper building in Amsterdam for two years, i29 convinced Gummo to embrace the mantra of ‘reduce, reuse, recycle’ to create a stylish office space that would impact as little as possible on the environment and their wallets. Everything in the office conforms to the new house style of white and grey. All the furniture was locally sourced from eBay, charity shops and whatever was left over at the old office. Everything was then spray painted with an environmentally friendly paint to conform with the new colour scheme. The new office is a perfect case of a smart way to fill a temporary space stylishly and at minimal cost.

Lego – Denmark

If you’re anything like me, then your ideal office is anywhere that you can be surrounded by Lego all day, and that’s what it’s like working at Lego. The colourful open-plan layout encourages interaction and play between the staff, in an effort to fuel their imagination, which is what Lego is all about. The meeting rooms are all light, colourful, and open, and vary in size depending on their uses, but they’re all designed to one thing: provide a happy and comfortable working environment to boost moral and product development. The whole office is designed so that anyone can play with the lego and come up with something new, while getting work done, and enjoying their time at the company. If spending the whole day playing and working with Lego doesn’t make you happy, then I don’t know what will!

Zappos – Las Vegas, Nevada

If you’re not from America, then you may not have heard of Zappos, but they’re a huge company, in fact, they’re the world’s largest online shoe retailer. Customer satisfaction is the secret behind their success, and that’s what they’re famed for, which is why it’s part of one of the most successful sites on the internet, their new owners – Amazon.com. This culture of realising people’s importance and individuality has been transferred into the Company’s headquarters where each employee gets their own little imprint into the office design. Unlike most of the companies on this list, Zappos have stuck largely to cubicle based design, only they encourage each and every employee to make them their own, with decorations, toys and trinkets. This means that every cubicle is unique and the office feels less sterile and more enjoyable to work in, the staff even get a say in the design of the conference rooms. If you happen to be in Las Vegas, you can take a short trip out of town and actually tour the office and learn all about Zappos for free.

KBP West Offices – San Francisco, California

This unique office and conference building is made up of three wings, which are separated by the sliding walls, and can be opened up to create a single, colourful meeting room. The design of the office isn’t what you’d call typical, even by the standards on this list. There’s a library/conference room with wooden swivel chairs, bizarrely shaped rooms with slanted ceilings and chalkboard walls, miniature staircases to take you to green carpet-clad phone booths for conference calls, all inside what can be best described as a white warehouse. This is the office of an advertising firm in San Francisco, and their unique offices are designed to stimulate the creative juices of those working inside them. And when it’s time to take a break, there’s always the indoor garden, or the huge and colourful dining room, where the staff can relax and carry on socialising.

Big In Japan – Dallas, Texas

It’s amazing to see just how quickly technology companies can grow these days. Big In Japan is a Dallas based mobile app developer started in just 2008 with their award winning, barcode scanning app; ShopSavvy. They’re now in an ever-expanding and modern office which focuses on open plan working and cool decorations, such as the nine foot Hulk statue. Like most of the offices on this list, BIJ have done away with work cubicles and opted for a more clean finish, with a glass-walled conference room to give the impression of space. For relaxation, there’s always Rock Band and various games consoles, with comfy leather sofas and been bag chairs to enjoy the multiple TV’s from. The mix of work and play is everywhere in this office, with Fussball being only a chair swivel away from work, Big In Japan understand that to be able to make things fun, you’ve got to be able to have fun. They’re still a relatively small company for now, but it’s clear that that they’ve taken a leaf out of the books of the big boys, and made their office all about the employees.

Traction Marketing Group – Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

Traction Marketing Group started off with just a plain warehouse and got creative with it. With colour splashed over each wall, there’s an interesting mix of blue, green, brown and grey scattered across the large and open-plan office. They’ve done away with the harsh florescent lighting, and opted instead of spot lighting and festoon lighting that swings down across the ping-pong table. The smooth concrete floor is host to multiple seating areas where employees can go to rest, and the massive glass garage sized door floods the entire office with natural light, making for a much more comfortable work environment. It quite clearly used to be a warehouse, but that adds to the character and prevents the feeling of a sterile workspace. The whole building is designed to reflect the company’s style of business and they can tell from experience that by having the same approach with where they work, yields better results.

LivingSocial – Washington, D.C.

If you’re not familiar with LivingSocial, they’re a daily deals company, in the same vain of Groupon, and much like Groupon, they’re growing rapidly. To house this new workforce, they need a big, new, comfortable workspace to put them in, which reflects the company vision and encourages staff interaction and collaboration. There’s a stark mix of old and new in this building as some parts of the ceilings and walls are left bare to reveal the past, which contrasts with the company’s new modern design for the office. Exposed brick, antique doors, and old shutters can be seen in the same room as a large mirrored wall, games machine, flat screen TVs, and photos of doughnuts. With a company this young, they rely on a lot of hard work, but to make sure that the staff aren’t overworked, there’s a mix of work hard, play hard to make work not even seem like work.

ThinkGarden – Milan, Italy

I work from my computer, indoors, at least 50 hours a week, and the one thing that I don’t have in my office is enough nature. ThinkGarden understand that to do work, we have to spend most of our time indoors, but there’s no reason why we can’t being some living nature in with us. Their whole office is designed to reflect nature with stone shaped bean bags, large plants, flowers and trees, and unusual desk positioning. Even the walls are designed to make it look like you’re in the middle of a woods, and the bright white furniture contrasts with the plant life, making it stand out even more. If you don’t think this office is green enough yet, then maybe the putting green in the reception area will change your mind.

Pallotta TeamWorks – Los Angeles, California

This office differs to all the others on the list for one reason, and that’s the budget. It was limited to just $40 per square foot, which forced the designers to think outside the box, but well, it seems they didn’t get much further than just the box. You see, because this had to be done on such a tight budget, they took to customising a bunch of shipping containers and turning them into office space inside a large warehouse. This unique design and fresh colours make for a rather interesting work environment, that’s not just cheap to build, but cheap to run. Pallotta TeamWorks is a charitable organisation which specialises in raising money for different needs, through putting together fundraisers for people to take part in, and raises tens of millions of dollars each year for charity.

Corus Quay – Toronto, Canada

This is one of the largest offices on the list, and by the looks of things, one of the most fun. It’s a massive 500,000 square feet, and home to Corus Entertainment. It’s been labeled Toronto’s smartest building. The building brings together 1100 staff which used to be housed in 11 separate buildings, into an open office environment with multiple social spaces, even including a five story atrium with a three story slide and lounge above a couple tv studios. This building is all about having fun and bringing the entire work force of a company together in one place to create a boost in productivity, helping the company to continue to grow. Bright colours, big TV’s, boardroom tables shaped like ice hockey rinks – this building really has it all.

Loving Money to Attract More of It

Loving Money to Attract More of It

The most provocative and controversial aspect of my two million copy bestselling book, Moneylove, is its title. When I first wrote it, in 1978, most people thought money and love were polar opposites. I was a pioneer in suggesting that loving your money was the path to getting a lot more of it.

My concept of Moneylove is not about accumulating huge hoards of cash, or obsessing over money. It’s about loving yourself enough to produce the money you deserve, loving your work so you can more easily and happily produce wealth, and being a more loving person so that other people will be attracted to you and to whatever ideas, products, or services you offer.

Love is the most powerful emotion human beings feel, and emotion has a lot to do with the results you get in life. There are probably a lot of millionaires who don’t love money, but the ones who seem to be happiest and most fulfilled–creatively, personally, in business, and in terms of making a difference in the world, exude their love and passion for what they do and the success they achieve. When I say they love money, I don’t mean they lust after it, or are even motivated by it…they do what they do because they love doing it, and other people–who are after all, the source of all our money, are attracted to that positive energy, and therefore are happy to give them lots of money. Super Wealthy people like the late Steve Jobs, or Richard Branson, or Oprah, or Jeff Bezos of Amazon, or new billionaire Sara Blakely, the creator of Spanx….are driven by their love for what they do. They don’t hate money or think it’s an evil force–they enjoy the fruits of their labors, and they love everything about what they do in the world, include creating great wealth.

Here are seven great reasons why you should love money.

Great Reason #1

You should love money because it is the way the world lets you know you are on the right path.

Great Reason #2

You should love money because all the world loves a lover, and people will be
attracted to you and what you are offering when you exude that love energy. The message you want to send the world is:

“I am filled with love for my work, my life, and my constantly increasing prosperity, and everyone likes to be near me and buy what I am offering.”

Great Reason #3

You should love money because the alternative sucks. Hating or even mildly disliking money leads to poverty and unhappy frustration.

Great Reason #4

You should love money because it buys you the freedom and time to love
everything and everyone else in your life. This means saying to yourself (try it):
“I have a great life because I can afford to own my time and have the freedom to do what I want when I want and with whom I want to do it.”

Great Reason #5.

You should love money because it allows you to amplify and multiply your
positive impact on the world. Your personal prosperity proclamation for this one:
“I love the difference I can make because of my financial success.”

Great Reason #6

You should love money because is it is the only inanimate object capable of
loving you back.

“I love money and money loves me.”

Great Reason #7

You should love money for the sheer fun and joy of playing with it, spending it,
and sharing it. As Sara Blakely, the youngest self-made female billionaire in history, puts it: ”Money is fun to make, fun to spend and fun to give away!”

At this point in my treatise, are you convinced that money and love belong together in our lexicon of essential aspects of life?

These two vital parts of any happy and fulfilled life share incalculable common traits.

Here are just ten of them for you to ponder.

1. Energy. Perhaps the most important thing money and love have in common is that they both involve energy, in many instances, the same energy. An energy we create inside our deepest selves and then project out to others. When you’re in the presence of someone actually emanating this energy, you can feel it, and it is very hard to resist. Why would you even want to try?

2. Communication. Equally important in having a successful, happy and fulfilling relationship, and in having lots of money flow into your life. Warren Buffet has said that communication is the key to his being one of the richest people in the world:

“You can get an MBA, but if you improve your communication skills, I will guarantee you that you will earn 50% more over your lifetime.”

3. Other People. We get our love and our money from other people. These are often ignored when so called prosperity teachers talk about The Law of Attraction. And one of the highest manifestations of success is to have other people love to give you money.

This is one of my favorite personal affirmations: “People love to give me money.”

There are no limits to what you can accomplish in life when other people give you what you want in terms of love, money, acknowledgement, advice, opportunity and support–and those are exactly the people you will attract when you project a loving energy, a loving personality, a love of what you do.

4. Painful Loss. Losing a major loved one, or having a big loss in business
can be devastating, And your reaction to that loss can be the direct result of how easily you believe you can replace either that loved one, or that money in your life.

In both love and money, your capacity for resilience–the ability to bounce back from a loss or setback–determines your level of fulfillment, joy and positive results.

5. Showing Off. Both money and love often lead to this. We are proud to have others know we have someone wonderful, attractive, sexy, and charming who loves us or proud that we have achieved lots of financial success. In both areas we sometimes go overboard in showing off to others. And this can lead to resentment.

Here’s a prosperity secret: the more people who enjoy and applaud your success rather than resent it, the more likely you are to keep increasing that success.

6. Addiction. You can become addicted to love, and you can become addicted to money, to the point where you obsess about either day and night.

As my late friend and mentor, Ken Keyes Jr., said in his bestselling book, The Handbook to Higher Consciousness,” an addiction is any desire so strong that not achieving it makes you upset, angry, or depressed. Here’s something to ponder. Ken Keyes Jr. also said, “You are receiving a signal or a warning to get rid of some addiction in your life every time you feel emotionally uncomfortable or out-of-sorts.” Ken was not saying you had to get rid of something you strongly desire, but suggested instead that you upgrade it from an addiction or compulsive attachment to a preference for that certain something.

I am not obsessed with making lots of money and getting a lot richer, but I definitely prefer it to the alternative.

7. Old Stuff. In both money and love, we have old history, old beliefs, even old myths that get in the way of our achieving greater success right now.

In love, we may be holding onto a fantasy about what the perfect partner will look and act like. Often these fantasy beliefs came from our parents or other significant people in our early years. In terms of earning money, many people are still holding onto the old belief that you will achieve your highest potential in terms of earnings if you find a company to work for, are a loyal and hardworking employee for forty years, and retire with your gold watch and a generous pension to begin a life of leisure. This construct or concept is filled with an amazing number of stereotypical myths. I’m not sure this fantasy was ever true for most people, but certainly in today’s totally transformed economy, the best response one can offer up for that idea is FC or Fat Chance.

Having a sense of lack about love or money in your life might be a message telling you to look at the path you have chosen. When you do this, you might find it resembles an obstacle course, littered with large bags of old stuff.

8. Forgiveness. The degree to which you are holding on to anger or sadness about
something that happened in your love life or your work life is the degree to which you may be living a limited and constrained life. Here’s a secret about forgiveness: It’s not about being a nice person or making the other person feel good. It’s about freeing yourself from those energy-draining limitations and constraints.

9. Stinginess. You can be a tightwad with your money or your love.
What you hold onto tightly gets crushed, diminished, or eliminated entirely. What you freely use and share with others gets enhanced and expanded.

10. Feelings. Money and love share emotional amplitude. We all have strong emotions
that can be triggered in these two areas of our existence. In both money and love,
it’s not about achieving a specific goal–earning a certain amount in a certain way, or
finding a person to love who meets very detailed criteria. No, it’s about how the results
you do achieve make you feel. What we are all really looking for is the feeling we imagine we will have if that special someone shows up–or the feeling we will have when unlimited cash windfalls arrive.

One of my favorite affirmations that covers both desires is:

“I Am Rich and Lovable.”

warm and prosperous regards,

Jerry
