What company do you use to print your apparel? And, do they print on demand?

I am thinking about going this route with one of my sites, but I’m just beginning the research phase of selling apparel.

I loved the post about the Charity Money http://theoatmeal.com/blog/charity_money

Thanks,
BD

Researching Inman was inspiring, but I also took it as a challenge to emulate him and rise to my potential. Keep at it!

Hundreds of thousands of people may be making online comics, as you say, but how many of them match The Oatmeal’s quality? If this kind of success isn’t available to 99.999% of us, that’s because 99.999% of us don’t have Inmans’ broad skillset (programming, marketing, graphic design, writing, web development) and haven’t put in the work. It’s true that Inman has used some gray hat tactics in the past to promote his dating website among others (he would embed largely unrelated keywords into viral html badges), but he doesn’t do that with The Oatmeal. And you can’t cheat to get The Oatmeal’s social media numbers and engagement.

Laughter is a beautiful thing when you’re stressed. My favorite would probably be that one-panel about somebody looking for a pen: “The dark lord once again thirsts for our life blood!”

That’s some good insight into the life of a copywriter and I think it sheds a light on a major difference between writing as an employee and as a freelancer / blogger / entrepreneur like Inman.

I have a long way to go…
