I used to have a quarter of a million readers at my peak and between the blog, my full time job and being a single mom, I simply didn’t have time to address every comment… If I had, I never would have slept!

What do you suggest when each post garners 100+ comments and you simply don’t have time to respond to each one? I would try to frequently add a heartfelt thanks whenever I sent out a “new post” notice, but it still seemed very impersonal and thoughtless. I’m thinking about trying to revive the site as I get emails almost daily from past readers or people who heard about it and are looking for it and I’d like it to be as successful as possible.

Thank you for your article!

Crystal McKee

I agree 100% that the niche you choose must certainly tie into your passion or hurt… just make sure your passion or hurt solves a problem.

That problem you solve, defines your niche. If you plan to earn a passive income online this is critical.

And yes, I am familiar with Brian Clark’s “10 Steps to Becoming a Better Writer”

He makes some great points 😉

Here’s a link to the poster for anybody that needs reminding: http://www.copyblogger.com/10-steps-to-better-writing

It’s not uncommon for many of us to overlook some of these points, which is why raising out awareness is critical.

Once you realize you’ve been neglecting some of these important factors it’s important to do exactly as you said and “go back to the drawing board”

I appreciate your feedback.

If your readers can rely on you to consistently bring them great content, they’ll keep coming back.

If you’re not updating your blog on a regular basis, just make sure it’s stellar when you do. At the very least you might be able to collect some emails and provide value to those on your list. It takes me 5 minutes to produce a good email that get’s opened and read.

Try a survey on your next post and ask what type of stuff they’d like to see from you in the future. Provide a few choices and BAM you’ll have a better idea of what it is you’re reader wants.

Remember, they’re already on your site, which means they’ve already resonated with something you’re doing. Find out what that something is and do more of it.

Install Google analytics or statpress (wordpress plugin) to help identify what’s already sending you traffic.

This will help you loads.

Most of us have been guilty of a few of these.

One of the main reasons successful bloggers are in fact successful is because they’re able to quickly identify what doesn’t work and make adjustments.

This “blogging wisdom” is attainable through experiences gained from consistent writing and interacting with your community.
